Description
A web-based digital queue management system built during my school internship at BBPPMPV-BMTI — a government vocational and technical training center in Cimahi, West Java.
The system replaced a manual, paper-based queue process with a digital one: visitors receive a digital queue ticket, and their number is displayed in real time on a screen. Staff can manage the queue flow from a central admin panel.
This was my very first professional project as a developer — and the experience that made me fall in love with building things for real people.
Impact
Eliminated the manual paper-based queue entirely. Key outcomes:
- Visitors no longer had to guess their wait time — the real-time display board showed queue numbers clearly
- Staff could manage flow from a central admin panel without physically distributing paper tickets
- The system significantly reduced wait time confusion and improved the visitor experience at the training center
- Delivered on time within the internship period with zero critical bugs in production
What I Learned
This was where I truly learned what it means to build for real users. I had to interview staff to understand their pain points, then translate that empathy into a working system.
The most important lesson: features don't matter if users can't use them. Simplicity, clarity, and reliability beat complexity every time. I carry that principle into every project today.
